TECHNOLOGY IN THE SNOW FOR PLANNED SKI RESORT
MONITORING THE SNOW DEPTH IN SAUDI ARABIA - NEOM
Task
Saudi Arabia relies on ultrasonic technology from Sommer in the Trojena ski resort. The current snow depth is recorded precisely, continuously and contact-free using USH-9 sensors.
Trojena is part of the Neom and is located 50 kilometres from the Red Sea coast in the heart of a nature. The altitude ranges from 1,500 to 2,600 metres and covers an area of almost 60 square kilometres.
Recording the snow conditions in Trojena is an essential basis for the development of snow cover and operations. The ski area is also covered with snow. The water used for this is desalinated from the Red Sea and pumped up by sources of renewable energy . Snowmaking will take place at different points. The area is scheduled to open in 2026 and the Asian Winter Games will be held in Trojena in 2029. more details: Trojena
The USH-9 sensor of Sommer is successfuelly implemented by central weather services as well as by avalanche warning services, ski resorts, energy suppliers and research stations in high mountain region.
